The blowing-into-a-paper-bag thing really does work when you’re having a panic attack. You can turn off your phone, everything will still be here when you come back. Go outside and touch some grass, hold your breath under water, tell someone you want to hold their hand. Every person thinks they’re as unique as you think you are, and all of us are right. Slow count, soft breath. Inflate the bag. Count to fifteen. Feel the surface beneath you. Grafted trees bear fruit first, but those grown from seeds still grow. It’s all right to need a little more time. Breathe. You will be okay.
